About Simply Play - A Wilmington, NC Drop-In Child Care Center

The Owner: After teaching Kindergarten for several years in New Hanover County, Jodi Butler became a stay at home mommy to her own three kids and also cared for other children in her home. Noticing a growing need in Wilmington for flexible, convenient child care she decided to try something new. So, she combined her love for teaching children with the desire to help today’s active families and Simply Play was born!

Playtime: The vision and design for Simply Play came from Jodi’s educational background. From the moment you open the door and walk through the white picket gate, you can see that the play place is created to stimulate the curiosity of all children. The 3200 square foot space is divided into several different stations to suit all age groups and interests, from 12 months to 12 years.

For those with lots of energy, Simply Play is full of active areas including plasma cars and an indoor basketball hoop. You‘ll find a jungle gym, rollercoaster, and slides as well. For the budding artist, the creative center contains a large dry erase board, paints, glitter, arts and crafts and play dough. For imaginative play, there’s a princess room, a train table, kitchen set, workbench and dress up clothes. The list goes on an on! For the little ones there’s an area with a fish tank, a ball pit, blocks, puzzles and much more. Children ages 4 and up also have a separate lounge equipped with two flat screen TVs for video games, a huge doll house, an air hockey table and other cool big kid stuff! Our Staff: You will see the Simply Play staff members actively playing with children and enjoying every minute! Not only do they have substantial experience working with children (90% are pursuing education degrees), but it is evident that they genuinely love what they do. The staff is absolutely amazing! And of course, they all completed background checks and are CPR and First Aid certified.
